Raising one end of her staff to block the thrust Rey stuck the other out a moment later, trying to catch his legs.

He grunted as the staff hit off one of his legs, moving to the side again. He made the obvious movement, giving a wide strike with his sword.

Spinning to block the blow from his sword she pushed back against the blow, getting enough momentum to bring a leg up and kick him in the thigh.

Ah, but the blow from his sword was not his aim. As she blocked that, he reached for the staff, looking to grab it. His leg moved just in time to avoid the kick, but he did shoot her a look of 'really'?

His look made her laugh as she sprang backwards to get out of reach, spinning her staff in a wide circle as she moved around him slowly.

He spun his own sword, following her movements in that circle, keeping an eye for which way she would move next.

Shifting as though she meant to circle right Rey pivoted to the left instead charging closer and sweeping her staff at his legs.

He jumped, pushing forward to hit with the flat of the sword.

Her movements thwarted Rey staggered back slightly, grinning at him. "Good to know those arms do more than look nice."

That just got a raise eyebrow in return. Oh, so you've looked, he wants to say, but he's never been capable of chatting even in a practice spar. He has to focus on the matter at hand.

Chuckling at the slight raise of his brow she paid for being distracted, dodging a swing at the last second before backing up to put some space between them again.

He used the space, trying to judge where best to move next. This was different to most fights - she was smaller and more agile, though he had the same speed if he chose to use it. Maybe...

"So serious," she said lightly, dodging another swing only to end up behind him where she could sweep his legs with her staff.

[fulfillourdestiny]

Well, she might have been able to sweep his legs, if the Force did not warn him to her presence. He moves quickly, side-stepping her staff and looking to strike it with her sword.
