"Even Kings need to stay sharp when they're going into battle, lest they lose their head." It's offered with a small smirk as he nods his head. Because he's not a King that stays behind with the battle maps either, he'll be on the front lines with everyone else striving to win this warm. He never asks of others what he won't do himself.
He rolls his wrist and spins the sword a little in his grip. It's not longclaw, but it'll do for a sparring session. "Wouldn't you agree?"
"I would agree that anyone planning to fight needs to be sharp," Ben said, giving a nod in return. He understands the meaning of the words, though, and he can respect Jon's beliefs there.
It's not every King or royal that would ride into battle with their men. He respects the Skywalkers for being here, for answering the call for help. "I have fount them before."
He shifts slightly to circle Ben a little, because there's no reason they can't spar and talk at the same time. "They're difficult opponents, because they don't feel pain being already dead."
"If they're dead, how exactly do they come to be walking around?" It's a genuine question, a thought that has been plaguing him. He did not deny their existence, simply wondered how they worked.
"Magic of some sort. And it seems like their touch against the dead will raise other dead to their cause." From what he's seen at least. Any dead that still had the ability to walk or fight had seemed to be able to raise and join them. Which was also concerning because any lost on their side might join the problem until they can finish it. "Though from what I've heard, take down the Night King permanently and the rest will fall. They're all tied to him and his magic."
Magic. They always said magic here. Not the Force, just magic. He wondered what the difference was. That being said, he'd not heard of any Force users who brought the dead back the way the White Walkers were said to do so.
"So the aim is to get to the Night Knight as quickly as possible?"
To be fair, they didn't exactly know about the Force here. It wasn't exactly a way of life for them. The Children of the Forest called it magic, to a point, the Red Witch had called it magic, so it's just a term that they use. For all he knows, the Force and Magic are one and the same. Even the power that had brought Jon himself back from the dead was considered magic.
"Aye, but I doubt he'll be at the front lines, preferring to try and let his army try to decimate us before he shows himself, so we're at what he considers our most vulnerable. Because any of ours that fall, may well join his."
"I assume we'll be taking advantage of any weakness of theirs to try to prevent that happening?" He watched the man. He doubted this King would want any of his men to fall to the undead, same as he didn't.

"The King himself," Ben said, ducking his head in reverence. "I'm honoured."
