Out in the courtyard Ringo Grar was sat back on his massive shaggy haunches, large paws in his lap and his head tilted up towards the sky, looking every inch a beloved pet getting the affectionate scratching of a lifetime. Behind him, far smaller than the bear itself Rey worked over the bear’s deep colored fur with a stout wooden brush with coarse boar bristles. Half listening to the clash of swords as a few men took to sparring their afternoon away, Rey muttered affectionately at the bear as he let out a happy little groan.
“Oh look at you, just coming to pieces you big lump,” wrapping her free arm around Ringo to give him a hug while she brushed at his shoulders she laughed a little bit as the bear’s tongue lolled contenedely out of his mouth. “This great warbeast love of mine,” she mumbled affectionately at the animal, squeezing it in a hug before resuming the task of grooming him. It was unfathomably cute, and by far one of her favorite parts of her weekly chores.
2) sleepless in winterfell
Not the greatest at getting to sleep and actually staying that way it isn’t much of an anomaly to see Rey by the hearth in the great hall at all hours of the night. Just beyond the long table that extended before the fireplace she sat on the warm stones, wrapped in a cloak as her focus was trained on the piece of wood and the knife she held, working on carving a little shape into the thick branch as her brows knit together. While ordinarily she reserved this kind of restlessness for the outdoors, being in front of the fireplace made it a simple matter to sweep the evidence of her toiling (or an out and out failure) into the embers to be destroyed.
At the sound of footsteps on the stones behind her she does just that, tucking the little bird shape into her cloak and out of sight as she straightens up to peer over the side of the table. “Bit late, don’t you think?” Not that she’s in any position to talk of course, but that isn’t something that has ever stopped Rey before. Whether or not it was one of the new guests to the keep mattered very little, she was prickly no matter who she was speaking to.
3) so many weird little bottles!
The hot springs under the keep provided a welcome relief from the biting chill that seemed to pervade everywhere else, though since their guests had arrived at least a few things had been different. For one, there were bottles and little canisters everywhere, covered in an assortment of scripts, some of which Rey could scarcely make out. Standing in warm water up to her waist and clad in a few strips of fabric strategically wrapped to keep her from exposing herself to any visitors Rey turned a small amethyst colored bottle around in her hands, squinting at the gold lettering before she carefully removed the stopper and had a sniff.
She regretted this choice immediately, capping the bottle again as she held it at arm’s length, all but thrusting it back onto the natural stone shelf it had been sitting on when she’d gotten there. What on earth were those Skywalkers doing down here? Rey had her suspicions that they might be a little bit magic, but she hadn’t ever heard that magic was meant to smell weird.
